Future
As we embark on this grand adventure the Lord Jesus has set before us, we find that people ask us three questions. In this update letter we will attempt to answer these questions for those who have not had opportunity to ask us personally.
- Many times the first question that we hear is - "Do you know how to sail?" Our family has had a love of sailing for many years and has sailed on both lakes and the ocean. When the Lord spoke to us the vision of living aboard a sailboat and serving missionaries around the world we started studying, reading and practicing. That was over 7 years ago. We have learned about avoiding storms, how to conserve water, etc., therefore; the answer to that question is, "Yes, we do."
- The second question, "Are you sure this is what the Lord is telling you to do?" Each step of the process we ask the Lord if we should continue. We both feel that to continue this without the Lord is foolhardy. He has assured us that He will continue to communicate to us what we should do. He gave Mike a vision, there was a little boy standing in a hardware store. He was at the counter with his handful of change and was asking for a tool. The child obviously did not have all he needed to secure the tool. In fact the tool was bigger than his hand. Behind the little boy was his father, the shopkeeper looked at the boy and his small offering and then looked to the daddy. The shopkeeper was given the nod of approval. That nod was saying, "It's OK, I'll cover for him." We know that God is in this and that He will continue to lead and guide.
- The Third question people ask is, "How can we help?" The most important support we need is prayer. The heart felt prayer of a righteous man availeth much. When we first arrived back in the USA after having been in the field, Mary asked the Lord why we didn't feel more worn out and tired. The Lord showed her that our whole family was being held up and sustained on the praying hands of the saints. You are the saints. Please continue to pray for us.
